What problem does this solve?

Astrophotography means juggling a laptop, five cables and three apps in the dark.

A deep-sky rig is really a little network: a mount to track, a main camera to shoot, a guide camera to keep it locked, a focuser, a dew heater, normally all wrangled from a cold laptop trailing USB cables into the damp.

The ASIAIR Plus is a small Wi-Fi computer that plugs into all of it and hands the whole rig to an app on your phone. Polar alignment, plate-solved GoTo, autoguiding and unattended imaging runs happen from the couch, and its four 12 V outputs power the mount, camera and dew heaters so one supply feeds the lot.

You need one if you image with ZWO ASI cameras and are tired of running a laptop at the mount.
You can skip it if
Skip it if your main or guide camera is a DSLR, QHY or Player One, the ASIAIR only speaks to ZWO cameras for the parts that matter.

03Before you buy

Good to know.

The honest caveats — the things that save you a return, a bad first night, or a second purchase you didn't need.

It's a ZWO-only club.
The magic, one app, plate-solving, guiding, sequencing, assumes ZWO ASI cameras. Bring a DSLR or a QHY/Player One camera and most of that stops working. Match the box to your cameras, not the other way around.
It replaces the laptop, not the skill.
Polar alignment, framing and guiding are still yours to learn, the ASIAIR just makes each step a tap instead of a terminal command, and keeps you out of the cold.
The four power outputs are half the point.
Those 12 V outs feed the mount, camera and dew heaters from a single supply, so 'one cable to the rig' is real, fewer battery packs, fewer things to trip over in the dark.
Buying used: check the essentials.
Confirm it powers on and makes its Wi-Fi, that the original 12 V supply and USB cables are included, and that it updates to current firmware in the app. 256 GB is plenty for a night of lights.
