Sampling

Oversampled

Finer than the air will deliver at typical 2.5″ seeing — the same detail spread over more pixels, paid for in noise. Bin 2×2, or use a shorter focal length.

Tracking

Field rotation

An alt-azimuth mount tracks the target but lets the field rotate around it, smearing stars at the corners. Keep subs under about 60 seconds, or add an equatorial wedge.

Best match on this telescope

Nothing in the catalogue is well sampled at 2032mm — every sensor here oversamples this focal length. A focal reducer, or a shorter telescope, is the fix. These are the closest.

Jupiter

Small in frame· Jupiter is 45″ across, 7.0% of the 11′ short edge

A postage stamp in the middle of a large field. More focal length, or a heavy crop later.

Cloud bands and the four Galilean moons are visible in almost any telescope.
